The Fountain Restaurant Rolls into Campus Marius

The Fountain Detroit, a restaurant and bar arrived in the unique beach area at Campus Maritus Park this morning in preparation for the 2016 summer season. The restaurant design is the first of its kind in Detroit, creatively built as a decommissioned 40-foot-long steel-shipping container.  It is scheduled to open for full-bar service on May 27.

“As one of the country’s most popular downtown urban beaches, The Fountain Detroit’s extensive new food and beverage offerings will significantly enhance the visitor experience,” says Robert Gregory, chief public spaces Officer of the Downtown Detroit Partnership.

The restaurant will open prior to the kick-off of the 12th annual Summer in Parks season that brings free events and entertainment to the heart of the city with international and Detroit musical artists and a wide variety of activities ranging from exercise, networking, movies, and arts. The seasonal installation of the full-service restaurant will be open from late May through mid-October.

Gregory says The Fountain Detroit is a state-of-the-art example of modern “cargotecture,” the adaptive reuse of industrial shipping containers. The 320-square-foot space has been designed to provide exceptional food and beverage service for the thousands of guests that visit Campus Martius Park every day, whether for a quick casual lunch or after work networking.

The restaurant and bar is continuing to hire experienced and outgoing staff for all positions, including servers, bartenders and cooks.
