Louis Bitonti, founder and president of the marketing firm Yellow Flag Productions and its “State Champs!” sports shows, is one of the initial 15 inductees into the Experiential Marketing Hall of Fame, named by Event Marketer magazine.
Event Marketer will recognize Bitonti and the other Hall of Fame members at a May 9 gala at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. The gala is part of the Experiential Marketing Summit, the largest annual gathering of corporate and agency executives.
“From their leadership and belief in the power of live events to their bold ideas and executions in the field, we’re honoring the achievements of the industry’s most passionate advocates,” says Jessica Heasley, group editor and publisher at Event Marketer. “We’re thrilled to recognize the brand marketers and agency leaders who have impacted how the world strategizes, designs, produces and leverages live experiences.”
Other Hall of Fame honorees with ties to the Detroit area are Fiona Bruder, president for the Americas at the Auburn Hills-based marketing firm George P. Johnson, and Deborah Wahl, the recently retired global chief marketing officer for General Motors Co. of Detroit.
According to the magazine, Bitonti was recognized “for achievement in proprietary properties and loyalty events spanning Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler.”
Bitonti founded Yellow Flag in 2007. With locations in Southfield and Bloomfield Hills, the company handles the marketing and public relations activities of Lawrence Technological University and produces “State Champs!” an online sports programs that covers a variety of sports.
In 2006, Bitonti retired from DaimlerChrysler after 28 years with the automaker, where he held titles such as senior manager of Jeep advertising and senior manager of global brand events. There, he developed national advertising activities for the Jeep brand and was also responsible for the company’s diversity event marketing and advertising initiatives.
Bitonti was behind several award-winning marketing programs for the Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep brands that garnered national and international recognition, including “Camp Jeep,” a three-day, family-oriented ownership gathering that was voted “Best Owner Loyalty Event in the World” in 2005 by Promo Magazine.
Other award-winning programs under Bitonti’s direction included “The Chrysler Art of Driving” ride-and-drive event, the “Jeep King of the Mountain” sports telecast, the “PT Cruiser Block Party” ride and drive, and “Route 2002-2004,” which was the largest automotive ride-and-drive event in the country during its three-year run.
