Arboretum Ventures, a health care venture capital firm based in Ann Arbor, has promoted Jeff Terrell to managing partner.
Terrell joined Arboretum in 2025 as an investment partner, bringing more than a decade of venture investing experience from Hatteras Venture Partners where he co-led the firm’s medical device practice.
Since joining Arboretum, Terrell has played a role in sourcing and executing new investments, including the firm’s recent Fund VI investment into Pharaoh Neuroscience, a company developing a novel cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) management platform to improve outcomes following neurological injury.
“Jeff brings deep sector expertise, a strong network across our medtech ecosystem and a collaborative and highly constructive approach to company building,” says Dan Kidle, managing partner of the firm. “He has quickly become a key contributor to our investment efforts, and we are excited for him to play a more integral role in leading and shaping the firm’s investment strategy as we continue to build and support transformative healthcare companies.”
Terrell’s investment experience spans medical devices, diagnostics, and tech-enabled services, working closely with management teams from early-stage development through commercialization and exit.
He currently serves as board chairman at AtaCor Medical and is a director at Boomerang Medical and Pharaoh Neuroscience. During his tenure at Hatteras, Terrell invested alongside Arboretum in Dropworks, which was acquired by Bio-Rad Laboratories and served on the boards of Cardiosense, 410 Medical, and Endogenex. He also was a board observer at Contego Medical, Rapid Pulse, and Bivarus (acquired by Press Ganey).
“I am honored to step into this role and continue investing in great companies alongside such a strong and collaborative team,” says Terrell. “Arboretum has a long history of backing impactful healthcare companies, and I look forward to helping drive the next phase of growth for the firm.”
