Wonder Falafel, founded in 2018 by Ashraf Jaber, provides wholesale and retail options for frozen falafel that is ready-to-cook. The product is tailored for restaurants or grocery stores.
“In 1982, my father came to Detroit from the Middle East to pursue a career in engineering,” Jaber says. “After discovering food was his passion, he left his job as an engineer to become a restaurateur and opened Harmonie Garden Café in 1993.”
Over the course of 15 years, Jaber’s father perfected recipes from the Middle East while adding an American flair. Falafel became his specialty, and he began distributing his creation to other restaurants and local grocery stores.
“After by father’s passing, I decided to open Wonder Felafel using his recipe to further his efforts of bringing delicious falafel to the people,” Jaber says.
In addition to creating falafel, the company’s mission is to support immigrants who are looking to work in America.
Wonder Falefel says it uses the finest ingredients (garbanzo beans, parsley, garlic, onion, water, salt, and spices) sourced from quality farmers across the U.S. The product is made from scratch, including its spice blend.
Among the restaurants serving Wonder Falafel are Bucharest Grill, Breadless, Delite Café, Sheeba Express, NYC Halal Eats, and Taza Fresh Grill.
Retail outlets where the products are available include Cedars Bakery, Greenland Market, and Woodward Corner Market.
