No Fear Café, located in TechTown Detroit, was founded in 2018 by native Detroiter and former teacher Alicia McKay with the goal of offering programs to inspire and develop the innovators of tomorrow by guiding them in gaining confidence and practicing self-awareness.
“We embrace the pursuit of excellence both inside and outside the classroom,” McKay says. “We encourage critical thinking and emphasize the learning process over rote memorization.
“Our programming is based on the underlying philosophy of learning and development through play, imagination, and critical thinking. We believe that engaging programs enrich a child’s life and lay the foundation for a successful later adult life.”
Based on the philosophy that learning is easier with an excellent instructor and engaging content, No Fear Café specializes in fun and highly interactive lessons. Instructors are passionate, bring enthusiasm to their lessons, and are background checked.
The organization offers after-school and summer programs, STEAM focused programs and group events, coding, robotics, science experiences, LEGO building, and LEGO math.
High-quality academic programming includes SAT and college prep, math excellence courses, reading, critical thinking, writing workshops, kindergarten readiness, academic coaching, and public speaking.
