Lumos EV was founded in Grand Blanc by Johnny Cooper in 2023 as a brand of electric vehicles crafted in collaboration with contract manufacturers.
The company says it’s embarking on a global journey, starting with a launch in Latin America, followed by expansion into the Middle East and Europe, with plans to make an entrance into the North American market by the fourth quarter of 2025.
For North America, Lumos will function as the exclusive product distributor. Market opportunities in these regions will be granted to capable retailers through a franchise arrangement. In other markets worldwide, Lumos will rely on a network of distributors responsible for deployment, brand promotion, and market representation.
At the recent CES trade show in Las Vegas, Lumos EV signed a development contract with U Power, a Chinese EV manufacturer. According to the development contract, Lumos will craft its own last-mile commercial van, the Lumos LC2 built on the U Power Up Van model.

Other vehicles in the Lumos EV stable include the Lumos LE1 hatchback sedan, the Lumos LC5 cab and chassis commercial vehicle, and the Lumos LC1 commercial van.
