Konjo Me means beautiful me, it represents your inner beauty and embracing your authentic self. Living in Detroit, founder Helina Melaku noticed the lack of African cuisine and culture. She wanted to connect black people and everyone back to their ancestral palates and established Konjo Me in 2020.

The business has done more than 400 pop ups and has its packaged coffee products available for sale in 6 different stores, Meijer Rivertown being the latest partnership. In addition, Konjo Me recently signed an LOI with Urge and N’Namdi for a new development in Woodbridge Detroit, with plans to open a restaurant in 2024.

In 2020, sales were $5,000, in 2021 it was $25,000, and in 2022 it was $83,000. Konjo Me projects $95,0000 in sales for 2023 and double that when the restaurant opens in 2024. The company has gained attraction from the community as well as Channel 4, Fox 2, WDET, Frame, and more, along with 35,000-plus views. It also provides cooking workshops and traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremonies to market the coffee and food.
