Founded by Lisa Session in 2023, Da Bomb Taco is a food truck combining authentic Mexican flavors, craftsmanship, and hospitality to serve the 48221 Zip code in Detroit since residents, students, and visitors lacked fast-casual Mexican food in that neighborhood.
The area includes Green Acres, Sherwood Forest, University District, the University of Detroit Mercy, and the Marygrove Conservancy. “My vision is to enhance Detroit neighborhoods with great food and genuine hospitality,” says Session.
Da Bomb Tacos begin with locally made corn tortillas, chef-griddled to a light crispness, and feature marinated carne asada, smoky chicken Tinga, or tender birria served atop Chihuahua cheese griddled to a golden brown directly onto the tortilla.
The truck also offers chorizo (pork), Yukon gold potato, and blackened shrimp tacos; plus, meatless options like panko avocado, portabella sofrito, and bean supreme. From tortilla to garnish, Session says each bomb tacos is layered with flavor and crafted to provide “immense enjoyment with every bite.”
In addition, Da Bomb Taco serves freshly made salsas, guacamole, and gluten-free queso dip with fresh tortilla chips, tossed with a hint of taco seasoning right out the hot corn oil in which they’re fried. Other sides include vegan-recipe rice and beans, and the Signature Eloté — sweet, tender corn-on-the-cob, chargrilled and steamed, and finished with chipotle aioli and cotija cheese.
Da Bomb Taco also offers Detroit’s Faygo soda pops and its own Margaritade, a freshly squeezed citrus punch with a hint of cinnamon.
