Renaissance Venture Capital, an Ann Arbor-based fund of funds that supports the growth of venture capital investment in Michigan, has published its semi-annual Hotlist of top early-stage Michigan startups that are seeking venture capital investment.
The list is a veritable A to Z of new companies — from Airspace Link Inc. in Detroit to Zonder Studio in Ypsilanti.
The group of around 75 high potential startups is curated from hundreds of recommendations made by Renaissance partners of venture capital funds, universities, incubators, accelerators, seed funds, angel networks, and others.
“In Detroit, local startups raised $4 billion across 694 deals over the past five years and has a VC growth score of 72.5, according to PitchBook’s analyst note ranking VC ecosystems and is the fastest-growing startup hub in the U.S.,” says Chris Rizik, founder and CEO of Renaissance Venture Capital. “Our Renaissance Venture Capital Hotlist and UnDemo Days are part of our work to connect the country’s venture capital community to Michigan’s burgeoning startup community.”
The Renaissance Startup Hotlist was released following the recent semiannual Renaissance UnDemo Day event at Ford Field in Detroit. UnDemo Day is a unique event bringing together high-potential startups seeking funding, venture capitalists from around the U.S., and Michigan corporations.
The event has received national acclaim for its attraction of venture capital to the state. At each UnDemo Day, Renaissance curates hundreds of one-on-one meetings between venture capitalists and startups. Dozens of local startups have received venture funding from UnDemo Day introductions.
The next Renaissance DEI UnDemo Day is slated for April 17, 2024. The virtual event will highlight startups from the Midwest and central U.S. led by women, people of color, and other diverse communities.
