The first Primrose School franchise early learning center in the state is slated to open in Canton Township in the spring. Kunjan and Hemal Patel are franchise owners and will lead the $5.5 million center.

Located at 45215 Primrose Lane (at the intersection of Canton Center Road and Cherry Hill Road), the new location is expected to create 30 jobs and care for up to 190 children.

The center will offer care and education for students between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years old following the franchise’s Balanced Learning approach, which uses play and guidance to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence, and compassion. It also focuses on developing character, building soft skills, and instilling a love of learning.

“As parents ourselves, we know how important the childcare conversation is,” says Kunjan Patel. “For us, opening our school is about providing parents with the peace of mind that their children will be loved, nurtured, and encouraged while in our care. What we wanted for our own children we will now provide for families in Canton and surrounding communities.”

With the addition of the Canton location, Primrose Schools will have locations in 31 states across the country.

Construction already is underway. The 12,500-square-foot school will include 72 solar panels on the roof that will generate 24,500 kilowatts for the building annually. It also will include 13,000 square feet of playground space and a garden.

“We look forward to the opening of the first Primrose school in Michigan and are thrilled that Primrose School of Canton will bring superb early education and care to families in this community,” says Jo Kirchner, CEO of Primrose Schools. “Kunjan and Hemal will help children grow and learn in a safe, nurturing environment by bringing our unique Primrose experience to Canton, and we aim to grow our presence in this community, serving more children in this area and in Michigan in the years to come.”

Primrose Schools was founded in 1982, and there are more than 400 locations across the country.
