Roush, the Livonia-based engineering, testing and development, prototyping, and manufacturing company, has created a business development team in California to expand its reach to industries more prevalent on the west coast.

This team, according to Roush, will bridge company’s engineering, product development, system integration, and testing capabilities with markets as diverse as connected and autonomous vehicles, aerospace, defense, renewable energy, and biomedical.

“Roush is uniquely positioned to support the innovation of our tech-focused partners, especially startups, through complete ownership of a product development cycle, from concept through production,” says Jason Furr, Roush executive director of sales. “Roush can also seamlessly provide the exact services a partner needs, when it needs it.”

Roush has built a presence within the tech community in Silicon Valley and globally, which prompted the opening of its new California sales office. The company, for example, assembled the first generation of Google’s autonomous vehicles and partnered with FarmWise to build prototypes for self-driving robots.

“Our real strength is in our integration expertise,” says Furr. “Often, the systems developed by our tech partners are integrated with hundreds of other systems, which must function flawlessly and reliably. This is where Roush’s expertise is unparalleled. Our partners can also leverage Roush’s prototyping, testing, and flexible assembly capabilities to take them to the next step in their development, no matter if they are a mobility company or a medical device developer.”

The new California-based business development team will focus on promoting Roush’s capabilities in the connected and autonomous vehicle space, electric vehicle technologies, aerospace, and medical device markets. It will be overseen by Jake Carter, director of west coast business development, who joins Roush with more than 15 years of sales and technical experience.
