The Deaf and Loud Symphonic Experience, a concert featuring the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and deaf artists Dame Evelyn Glennie, Mandy Harvey, and Sean Forbes, took place Sunday, Dec. 16 at Detroit’s Orchestra Hall. Proceeds benefited D-PAN, or the Deaf Professional Arts Network, a Detroit nonprofit that makes music and culture accessible to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. The performance was given in American Sign Language and included video.
Strategic Staffing Solutions in Detroit celebrated its Holiday Cocktail Party on Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Detroit Athletic Club. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and entertainment, and brought books to donate to Clippert Multicultural Magnet Honors Academy in Detroit.

The event, which included a strolling buffet and cocktails, was attended by professional business leaders and members of nonprofit organizations like the Association for Corporate Growth.

Leaders for Kids hosted Cheers For Children 2018 on Saturday, Nov. 24 at the Waterview Loft in Detroit. The evening included cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a program, a 52-card raffle drawing, live entertainment, dancing, a strolling dinner, and an open bar. Proceeds benefited the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation.
The Downtown Detroit Partnership hosted its 2018 Detroit Aglow dinner on Monday, Nov. 19 at MGM Grand Detroit. Guests enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving feast, cocktails, a short program, and gifts. The partnership strives to help businesses, residents, and visitors throughout the downtown’s urban core.
The fifth annual Hunger Free in the D was held on Monday, Nov. 19 at Lear Corp.’s world headquarters in Southfield. The event, which included a breakfast, raised money for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and Gleaners Community Food Bank, both in Detroit. The program was supported by the Celani Family Foundation and Cars and Cigars Smoke Detroit.
