The Parade Co.’s Hob Nobble Gobble
The Parade Co. hosted its 2018 Hob Nobble Gobble presented by Ford Motor Co. on Friday, Nov. 16 at Ford Field. Carnival rides and games, a Parade of Stars, and a meet and greet with Jesse McCartney were included. Proceeds went to the Parade Co. for the America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Art Van.
2018 Rugiero Casino Royale
The Rugiero Promise Foundation hosted its 2018 Rugiero Casino Royale on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn. Guests enjoyed faux gambling, cocktails, a strolling dinner, open bar, live music, live and silent auctions, prizes, and dancing. Proceeds benefited diabetes research at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Children’s Hospital of Michigan Ribbon Cutting for New Tower in Midtown
The Children’s Hospital of Michigan held a grand opening on Oct. 31 for its new $155-million patient tower in Detroit’s Midtown. The celebration started with a Great Pumpkin Party for guests in costume before a ribbon cutting for the six-story, 248,800-square-foot tower took place. Luanne Thomas Ewald, CEO of the hospital, and the Anglebrandt family were spokespersons. Construction began on the tower in 2015.
The Lingenfelter Collection’s Fall Charity Open House for The Pink Fund
The Lingenfelter Collection in Brighton hosted its Fall Charity Open House on Saturday, Oct. 27. All of the donations collected benefited The Pink Fund, which provides 90-day non-medical cost-of-living expenses to breast cancer patients. Guests enjoyed more than 200 vehicles, a fishbowl raffle and door prizes, a poster signing by Ken Lingenfelter, and a startup of the Enzo Ferrari.
Beyond Basics Open House in Detroit
On Oct. 17, Beyond Basics, a nonprofit literacy organization that provides one-on-one tutoring to students and adults, held a celebration of its new classroom and training center at the Durfee Innovation Society (formerly Durfee Middle School) in Detroit.
2018 U.S. Navy Ball in Detroit
On Oct. 20, the Navy League of the U.S. Metropolitan Detroit Council hosted the 2018 U.S. Navy Ball at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit. More than 100 guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, a silent auction, a plated dinner, an awards presentation, and had the opportunity to meet five crew members from the USS Detroit.
BRAvo 2018 at Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township
BRAvo 2018: A night in “Bras Vegas” was hosted on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at The Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township by McLaren Macomb, the McLaren Macomb Healthcare Foundation, and the Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Macomb, Ted B. Wahby Cancer Center. The annual breast cancer awareness event raises money for women’s health initiatives. The evening featured voting on and auctioning off decorated bras and a Dancing With our Docs competition.
German American Chambers of Commerce Unity Day Reception
The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, Michigan Chapter hosted its Unity Day Reception on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Carpathia Club in Sterling Heights. Herbert Quelle, German consul general, was the guest speaker for the networking event, and guests also welcomed Andrew Bemish, the incoming German honorary consul-Detroit.
DBusiness Breakfast Series: 30 in Their Thirties 2018
DBusiness magazine hosted its 30 in Their Thirties Breakfast Series on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Gem Theatre in downtown Detroit. More than 300 guests enjoyed a strolling breakfast, networking, and a panel discussion on Ford Motor Co.’s plans for its recently announced R&D Mobility Campus in Corktown.
University of Michigan-Dearborn Welcomes Chancellor Domenico Grasso
On Oct. 9, the University of Michigan-Dearborn hosted a reception for more than 100 people at the Detroit Athletic Club to welcome Chancellor Domenico Grasso. An environmental engineer who holds a Ph.D. from U-M in Ann Arbor, Grasso was most recently provost at the University of Delaware.
