The Salvation Army Appoints a Number of New Officers in Metro Detroit

The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit based in Southfield has announced a number of new officers to the metro Detroit area.

Bob and Lisa Mueller, both majors in the organization, have been appointed to The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division. Bob will serve as the Metro Detroit area commander overseeing fundraising, community development, and social services for the metro Detroit area.

Lisa is the new general secretary and regional COO, overseeing the Harbor Light System and Emergency Disaster Services. Prior to their current positions at the divisional headquarters, the Mueller’s served in Rochester, Minn. They have a combined 50 years’ experience with The Salvation Army.

Leading The Salvation Army Dearborn Heights Citadel are Jeffrey and Valerie Carr, both majors in the organization. As corps officers, the Carrs oversee business, pastoral ministry, programming, and social services ministry in Dearborn Heights, Dearborn, Garden City, Livonia, and Redford. The Carrs come to the Dearborn Heights Citadel from their most recent assignment at the divisional headquarters for Eastern Jamaica division, The Salvation Army Caribbean Territory.

Jacob and Melinda Tripp, captains in the organization, join the Carrs as assistant corps officers at The Salvation Army Dearborn Heights Citadel. The Tripps serve in the areas of business, pastoral ministry, programming, outreach, and social services ministry in Dearborn Heights, Dearborn, Garden City, Livonia, and Redford. They come to Dearborn from their most recent post as corps officers for The Salvation Army Adrian Corps Community Center.

Envoy Jackie A. Ellingson has been appointed as the new corps officer at The Salvation Army Detroit Grandale Corps Community Center. In this role, she will oversee all programming at the corps to serve those in need on the city’s west side. Ellingson has served The Salvation Army for more than three years, with experience at the metro Detroit corps including Detroit Grandale, Pontiac, and Hillsdale.

Vatthana and Donna Thammavongsa, captains in the organization, are the new corps officers at The Salvation Army Farmington Hills Corps Community Center. The Thammavongsas have served The Salvation Army for five years. Both are graduates of The Salvation Army’s College for Officer Training.

David and Shanda Minks, majors in the organization, are the newly appointed officers at The Salvation Army Warren Corps Community Center. As corps officers, the Minks lead the local food pantry and shelter program. They have served in many assignments in Southern Indiana and most recently Appleton, Wisc.
