The Old Newsboys’ Goodfellow Fund of Detroit presented the Edward H. McNamara Goodfellow of the Year Award at its 36th annual Tribute Breakfast on Oct. 16 to Jerry Norcia, executive chairman of DTE Energy’s board of directors.

The Edward H. McNamara Award is an honor presented to distinguished and noteworthy individuals who have significantly contributed to the community.

“Leaders and organizations like Jerry Norcia and DTE Energy play a vital role in strengthening our community and expanding opportunities for individuals across all socioeconomic levels,” says Annie Nickert, president of the Detroit Goodfellows. “We are pleased to recognize this impact and to honor Jerry this year.”

As one of metro Detroit’s most influential leaders — recognized for his long tenure at DTE Energy and his deep commitment to community‑focused organizations — Norcia has shaped regional economic development, strengthened energy reliability, and advanced philanthropic support for vulnerable families across southeast Michigan.

He served as chief executive officer of DTE Energy from July 2019 to September 2025, and before becoming CEO in 2019 and board chair in 2022, he held the role of president and chief operating officer, overseeing the company’s electric and gas utilities as well as two major non‑utility businesses.

The Tribute Breakfast draws support from prominent Detroit and Michigan businesses and community leaders to raise funds to help Detroit Goodfellows in its mission to ensure “no kiddie without a Christmas.”
