Newmark Knight Frank, a global commercial real estate advisory firm based in New York, has added a Detroit team to its valuation and advisory practice. It will be led by Tony Roberts, Michigan market leader and senior managing director. Chris Maharg will serve as senior vice president.

Roberts will be responsible for business development, recruitment, service delivery, and oversight of the Michigan appraisal team. His valuation expertise is focused on office, industrial, retail, and multifamily properties, but his experience extends across a spectrum of asset types including self-storage facilities, funeral homes, senior living facilities, vacant land, mixed-use developments, and religious facilities.

He also has experience with report preparation for financing, estate planning, collateral monitoring, acquisition, disposition, and tax assessments appeal. He previously worked at CBRE for more than a decade.

“NKF has a truly dynamic team of professionals on board, and I considered it an exciting opportunity to join them,” says Roberts. “I’m looking forward to continuing to expand the team’s footprint throughout the state of Michigan.”

Maharg has expertise in many property types and will serve as a team leader in the Detroit office. His focus is primarily on valuation of income-producing retail, office, and multifamily properties throughout the state, and he has experience with single tenant net lease retail and office assets, multi-tenant shopping centers, and more. His practice will also focus on valuations involving restaurants, automobile dealerships, medical offices, and more. He has more than 10 years of industry experience.

“Building out this office with top talent is an exciting development for our Michigan team and for our entire practice; we continue to add and retain the most skilled and experienced valuation and advisory specialists across the country,” says Helene Jacobson, valuation and advisory executive managing director and U.S. co-lead. “Tony and Chris are highly regarded by their peers for their dedication to great client service and expertise in this market, and we’re delighted to have them on the team.”

Newmark Knight Frank has 16,000 professionals who operate from about 430 offices on six continents.
