MotorCities National Heritage Area Names New Members to Board of Directors

At its recent annual meeting, the MotorCities National Heritage Area Partnership, a nonprofit corporation affiliated with the National Park Service, named Gina Liburdi and Nick Nerbonne to its board of Directors.

At its recent annual meeting, the MotorCities National Heritage Area Partnership, a nonprofit corporation affiliated with the National Park Service, named Gina Liburdi and Nick Nerbonne to its board of Directors. They each will serve a two-year term.

Liburdi, of Shelby Township, is a representative in the UAW National CAP Department for the UAW International Union in Detroit.  She has served in the labor movement for more than 20 years in various capacities which include union organizing, member training, and advocacy, and she is currently working in the UAW political action department. She has an undergradutate degree in family and community services from Michigan State University in East Lansing and is a working mom with a 10-year-old daughter.

Nerbonne is media, digital and industry relations director for the state’s Travel Michigan office in Lansing. He joined the board of directors in February to finish the term of the retiring Dave Lorenz and now has been elected to a two-year term.

Throughout more than 20 years of digital marketing and public relations experience, Nerbonne has represented brands and organizations in television news, tourism and hospitality, network services, consumer products, and economic development, among others.

In his current position, he leads Travel Michigan’s communications and digital media efforts, and works with the travel industry to share stories highlighting the outdoor recreation, natural beauty, rich history, and culture found in communities and destinations across Michigan’s two peninsulas.
