“We were one of the dealerships closed in June by Chrysler,” says Gina Russo, who has been with her family’s dealership since 1987. “We knew it was coming, and my father and I had already decided how we could survive and hopefully prosper in such a difficult and depressed environment.”
Lochmoor Automotive Group sells all makes and models of pre-owned vehicles, of every nationality and flavor. And it expanded its well-respected Chrysler Jeep service and body shop into one that services all makes and models as well.
“It has meant some expansion at a time when most dealerships are contracting,” continues Ms. Russo, “but we also have had our pick of the best mechanics and body men to expand our capabilities.”
That’s just the beginning, adds Ms. Russo. The dealership opened a scooter franchise selling the iconic Vespa and Piaggio Italian scooters last week. “According to the Motorcycle Industry Council, scooter sales last year reached their highest annual level ever, estimated at 222,000,” she reports. “We intend to be a part of the move toward more efficient vehicles with smaller carbon footprints.”
