Henry Ford College (HFC) in Dearborn has named Christie-Marie Buck as the school’s new director of nursing. She had served in an interim role for several months.

“When the position became available following Trina Moore’s retirement, I wasn’t actively pursuing a leadership role,” Buck says. “However, some of my colleagues encouraged me to consider the opportunity. Having the support and confidence of my colleagues meant a great deal to me. I saw it as a compliment and an opportunity to continue contributing to the nursing program in a new capacity.”

As director of nursing, Buck oversees the day-to-day operations and administrative functions of HFC’s Nursing program, including strategic planning, organization, and program development. She provides leadership in curriculum development, program evaluation, assessment, and continuous improvement to ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing education.

Her responsibilities include supervising adjunct nursing faculty, collaborating with HFC’s clinical partners, conducting advisory meetings, and strengthening relationships within the healthcare community.

Buck serves as the college’s liaison to the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. Through these efforts, Buck supports the continued growth and success of HFC’s Nursing program while preparing future nurses to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare field.

“My biggest goal in this position is to start a part-time nursing track program, which provides opportunities for our community to take nursing classes at HFC,” Buck says. “Part-time students would still maintain the ability to work and take care of their families. I’ve spoken to students who wish to enroll in the program, but can’t commit to participating every day. They can commit to 1-2 days per week and still be successful.”

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Buck moved to Michigan in 1995. She resides in Farmington Hills with Charles Buck II, her husband of 31 years. They have two adult children.

Buck earned her associate degree in liberal arts and science from Oakland Community College, then transferred to Oakland University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She later earned her master’s degree in nursing from Purdue University. In August of 2026, Buck earned her Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Oakland University.

She has been a practicing nurse for 12 years.

Since 2017, Buck has taught nursing at the college level. She began her teaching career at Oakland and Dorsey College in Madison Heights. She joined the HFC nursing faculty in 2021 and achieved tenure in 2025.
