Dion Williams has joined the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit as group director of community engagement.

Prior to joining the DMC, Williams was managing partner/political consultant for the DAW Consulting Firm in Detroit.

Williams is a community outreach professional with more than 25 years of experience in political, ecumenical and grassroots relationship building.

Throughout his career Williams has worked in a wide variety of community outreach roles including serving as the director of faith based and urban affairs for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the state of Michigan, outreach coordinator for the Office of Community & Faith Engagement for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and outreach liaison for the city of Detroit mayor’s office.

Williams also served as ecumenical advisor to the DMC for its Path to Health program, an initiative designed to assist residents in obtaining health insurance.

In this role, Williams will work to sustain and establish outreach, engagement, and community relation initiatives to promote the DMC and its service to the community. He also will work collaboratively with hospital and health system leaders and outside stakeholders to ensure the DMC is visible in the communities we serve and is advancing total community health and health equity.

A native of Detroit, Dion studied business management at Wayne State University.
