Davis & Davis Interior Design announced Amer Sahoury, current senior designer and project manager, will now be the firm’s director of design, taking over a position held by Michelle Davis for more than 30 years.

Davis & Davis Interior Design announced Amer Sahoury, current senior designer and project manager, will now be the firm’s director of design, taking over a position held by Michelle Davis for more than 30 years.

“Amer’s talent as a designer and architect shine in his impressive portfolio of work, but it is his dedication to excellence and desire to lead the design team in facilitating growth and opportunity for the whole firm that earned him this honorable role,” says Jamie Jordan, partner and managing director of Davis & Davis.

Sahoury earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning in Ann Arbor. He spent 10 years in New York City working with clients on projects such as Wells Fargo headquarters in Hudson Yards, MetLife headquarters in the 200 Park Ave Building, and Abbot Downing offices at the GM Building. Since joining Davis & Davis three years ago, Sahoury worked on several projects for the firm, including Lucido Fine Jewelry in Birmingham.

 

In his new role, Sahoury also will work to ensure firm-wide design standards are implemented and maintained on all design projects.

Davis & Davis also named Jeremiah (Jeremy) Doornbos, presently senior project designer and project architect, as the firm’s new director of architecture. This newly created position represents a shift in the firm’s focus and capabilities over the past several years.

“Jeremy exemplifies the technical skill, substantial experience, as well as the architectural, and design excellence that have come to define the work produced by Davis & Davis,” says Jordan. “We were thrilled to have Jeremy join our team two years ago, knowing his demeanor and character would be an excellent fit with our team. In that time, Jeremy has led our retail rollout service team in significant growth, and we are looking forward to having him broaden his responsibilities with the firm to extend his influence and share his talent in all areas of Architectural Services.”

Doornbos attended Lawrence Technological University in Southfield for his undergraduate degree in architecture and he received a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

He has been involved in a number of high-profile projects in southeast Michigan, including, the FirstMerit Bank office renovation, UWM Pontiac Campus expansion, and The M Den Detroit. With more than 20 years of experience in leading teams of designers and consultants through the development of a project.
