Rehmann, an advisory firm in Troy, is expanding its in-house legal and risk management team with the addition of David J. Klippert as general counsel and chief risk officer.
Previously, Klippert served as Rehmann’s primary outside legal counsel.
“The firm has entrusted Dave with many of its clients in the past, and we are thrilled to welcome him fully to the Rehmann team to serve exclusively as in-house counsel,” says Stacie Kwaiser, CEO of Rehmann. “As part of our executive management team, Dave will serve as an advisor to our board, owners, and associates, and will strengthen our growing legal team and our client relationships.”
Klippert comes to Rehmann following a career spanning more than 28 years in private practice, where he handled legal matters ranging from sophisticated mergers and acquisitions, to successfully defending his client’s property rights in a case he argued in front of the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Prior to joining Rehmann, Klippert spent more than eight years as a partner with Warner Norcross + Judd focusing on corporate and transactional work, as well as estate and succession planning advice.
Before joining Warner, Klippert was the managing partner of a Saginaw based law firm where he practiced for 20 years. In his new role with Rehmann, he will lead the in-house legal team and coordinating all team members and services under a single department.
“My top priority is to streamline the services and organization of the Rehmann legal team,” says Klippert. “This new role will not only allow me to continue to use my expertise and work with Rehmann in a greater capacity, but also to challenge myself and learn new skills.”
An active member in his community, Klippert served on the board of directors for the Michigan Chamber of Commerce for more than 10 years and is currently a trustee for the Bay Area Community Foundation.
