98Forward, a Detroit-based strategic communications agency, has launched 98Tech, a new integrated business unit designed to expand the firm’s capabilities in digital strategy, creative services, technology integration, and business innovation.
As part of this expansion, the agency has named Diop Shumake as executive director of integrated strategy and client growth.
The announcement marks a milestone in 98Forward’s continued growth and evolution as the firm strengthens its position as a full-service communications partner serving clients across government, health care, nonprofit, education, corporate, and community sectors.
“The launch of 98Tech reflects where our industry is headed and where our clients are asking us to go,” says Marilyn Horn, president and CEO of 98Forward. “Diop’s multidisciplinary leadership experience will help us continue delivering innovative, forward-thinking solutions while maintaining the personalized service that has defined our agency for nearly three decades.”
In his new role, Shumake will lead integrated client strategy, support agency business development efforts, oversee operational excellence across client accounts, and guide the development of 98Tech’s service offerings. He is expected to work closely with agency leadership to strengthen client experiences, streamline internal systems, and expand 98Forward’s capabilities through strategic partnerships and innovative technologies.
“Our work is measured by results, and 98Tech will deliver the creative systems and technical capabilities that bring our strategic vision to life,” says Shumake. “I look forward to building on 98Forward’s incredible foundation and integrating solutions that drive long-term growth for both the agency and our clients.”
The launch of 98Tech represents the next phase of 98Forward’s long-term strategic growth plan. The expanded service offering will complement the agency’s existing expertise in public relations, communications, marketing, crisis communications, stakeholder engagement, executive positioning, and event strategy with enhanced capabilities in:
- Digital strategy and innovation.
- Creative strategy and content development.
- Website and digital experience consulting.
- Technology integration.
- AI-informed communications solutions.
- Business strategy and operational optimization.
The expansion reflects the agency’s vision of becoming a comprehensive communications and strategy partner while maintaining a lean, collaborative operating model supported by a growing ecosystem of creative and technical specialists, according to officials.
“Our goal has always been to help organizations navigate complexity, build trust, and create meaningful impact,” says Antonice Strickland, vice president of 98Forward. “As our clients’ needs continue to evolve, so must we. 98Tech allows us to deliver more integrated solutions while remaining rooted in the strategic communications expertise that has always defined 98Forward.”
