The Jeep brand of Stellantis in Auburn Hills is bringing back the Wrangler Loredo, one of the most recognizable nameplates in its portfolio, for 2027.

As the ninth release in the yearlong Twelve 4 Twelve series, Wrangler Laredo is designed to honor one of the most memorable chapters in Jeep brand history while charting a new path forward through contemporary execution, according to the automaker.

“The Laredo name represents a pivotal moment in the Jeep brand’s evolution, and bringing it back was an opportunity to build on that legacy,” says Bob Broderdorf, CEO of Jeep. “With Wrangler Laredo, we set out to create something that stands apart, while staying true to what the Jeep brand does best, delivering proven, trail-rated capability our customers can count on.”

Unveiled as a concept at this year’s Easter Jeep Safari, Wrangler Laredo reportedly captured the attention of Jeep enthusiasts. The production model stays faithful to the concept.

Rooted in the final chapter of the CJ era, the Laredo name emerged in the early 1980s as a new interpretation of the Jeep brand. Blending 4×4 capability with styling, materials, and enhanced comfort, it appealed to a growing generation of customers seeking adventure without compromise.

When Wrangler replaced the CJ in 1987, Laredo carried forward as a defining trim. Inspired by the American Southwest and the border city of Laredo, the name evokes rugged terrain.

Key exterior elements include:

  • Standard Xtreme 35 Package with 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires paired with bronze beadlock-capable wheels for enhanced off-road traction, ground clearance and durability.
  • Reintroduction of the iconic tan soft-top, a signature heritage-inspired element brought back with modern execution; Sky One-touch power top available (four-door only); Black hardtop available (two-door and four-door).
  • Unique Gobi accent grille, delivering a warm, unmistakable front-end identity.
  • Laredo hood decals (center and side), featuring statement-making graphics inspired by archival designs.
  • Distinctive bodyside decals that reinterpret classic striping with sharper, contemporary proportions.
  • Rear lasso-style “4WD” decal.
  • Bronze tow hooks and bronze-accented Jeep and Trail Rated badging.
  • Available trailer hitch that provides up to 3,500 pounds of towing.

Inside, Wrangler Laredo is designed to deliver a warm, tactile environment shaped by premium materials and rich contrast.

Key interior elements include:

  • Laredo interior echoes the exterior’s emphasis on earth-tone colors, texture, and craftsmanship, creating a cohesive experience from the moment the doors open, anchored by a predominantly Bison Brown environment.
  • Bison Brown Nappa leather seats with front heat and power adjust.
  • Mayan Gold accent stitching adds a refined layer of contrast throughout the cabin.
  • Instrument panel surround, grab handle, door armrests and the center console are wrapped in Global Black, creating a contrast with the Bison Brown interior.
  • Exclusive Laredo badging adds a place-based signature, including a rear swing gate plaque featuring the coordinates of Laredo, Texas, and a custom center console badge that ties the vehicle directly to its namesake.
  • Subtle cowboy hat motif appears in the HVAC pad prints, adding a nod to the region’s western heritage.

Orders for the 2027 Jeep Wrangler Laredo open later this month.

In Other Stellantis News: The Dodge brand is honoring the Charger’s 60-year legacy with a tour of the nation’s largest car culture events.

“From its debut in 1966, Dodge Charger has stood as a symbol of bold design, unapologetic performance and unmistakable American attitude,” says Matt McAlear, CEO of Dodge. “As we mark 60 years, we’re bringing that legacy to life nationwide and connecting generations of enthusiasts.

“Today’s Charger continues as a modern muscle car led by the 550-horsepower Scat Pack with its gasoline-burning, twin-turbo, SIXPACK engine, proving performance remains at its core.”

The Charger 60th anniversary summer road trip heads first to America’s East Coast, then makes two West Coast stops, hits metro Detroit for two of the biggest car-culture enthusiast events in the nation, and wraps up with a cruise to watch 12,000-horsepower professional drag racers at the first National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) National event stop in Michigan in 66 years.

The tour started last weekend at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, one of the biggest Dodge car shows on the planet, drawing nearly 3,000 vehicles from the Stellantis family and tens of thousands of enthusiasts. It hit the Route 66 Centennial Parade on July 12, in which current and classic Dodge Charger models led the Petersen Automotive Museum’s escorted parade to the Santa Monica Pier, a celebration of 100 years of Route 66 and a living timeline of the American automobile. The remaining stops on the tour include:

All-American Cruise-In (July 26): Iconic versions from all eight generations of the Charger will be part of the Petersen Automotive Museum’s All-American Cruise-In, a high-octane celebration of American automotive culture marking 250 years of America that includes a stop at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles and a “fireside” chat with a Dodge representative.

MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge (Aug. 8): Back for its 11th year, the Roadkill Nights Dodge horsepower festival in metro Detroit will feature the debut of the most powerful SIXPACK-powered Charger yet, a Dodge Charger 60th celebration as part of the event’s massive car show and competitors drag racing on iconic Woodward Avenue in current-era 550-horsepower SIXPACK-powered Dodge Charger Scat Pack muscle cars.

Woodward Dream Cruise (Aug. 15): Dodge will be back at the big cruise on Woodward Avenue in metro Detroit, including with SIXPACK-powered Charger R/T and Scat Pack muscle cars on display, celebrating the nameplate’s 60th.
