The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, located in Detroit, is a nonprofit organization that works to create permanent, positive change through philanthropy. The foundation is building permanent endowment for the region and helping individuals, families, and businesses fulfill their charitable goals. The organization builds and protects endowments, supports donors and their charitable intentions, shares ideas, builds financial resources to make positive long-term change, and develops and supports programs. The foundation supports a variety of activities benefiting education, arts and culture, health, human services, community development, and civic affairs. Since 1984, the foundation has distributed more than $1 billion through more than 67,000 grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, St. Clair, and Livingston counties.
