Brightmoor Connection Food Pantry is a 501(c)3 organization based in Detroit that provides meals and other services to people and families in need. Originally a consortium of nine churches and two organizations, the pantry now provides an estimated 50 to 70 pounds of food per monthly visit through a client-choice model, which allows individuals and families to shop by appointment. Recently, the organization used funds to assist in restoring water, plumbing, and water heaters to numerous Detroiters and pay for emergency housing for displaced families. It support numerous advocacy initiatives, including families fighting water insecurity, housing and renters rights against illegal foreclosures, and one families fight for community benefits.
