Shelby Paint and Decorating Now Offers Locally-made, Eco-friendly Paint

Shelby Paint and Decorating — with stores in Shelby Township, Rochester Hills, and Grosse Pointe Woods — will now offer a Michigan-made, environmentally sustainable paint, called Motor City Paint.

Motor City Paint was developed by Brian Eisbrenner, son of the founder of Shelby Paint and Decorating, Tim Eisbrenner. Brian Eisbrenner now runs the company.

“Painting contractors were telling us that they missed some key properties that only professionals would truly appreciate, things like consistency of color and durability that came from a locally manufactured paint,” Eisbrenner says.

He says Motor City Paint, introduced last month, is manufactured in Lansing and contains fewer volatile organic compounds — chemicals that easily become vapors or gases — than typical paints. He says the brand’s water-based varieties, which include Guardian, Ambassador, Renaissance, Repaint, and PROV8000, are designed to suit Michigan’s climate. Offerings include a flat ceiling paint, a paint with a ceramic matte finish, a semi-gloss enamel, and a primer, among others.

Motor City Paint is available for both contractors and homeowners. Shelby Paint and Decorating also sells Benjamin Moore paint, Hunter Douglas blinds, and wallpaper.
