TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants, a family owned restaurant group based in Livonia, has acquired 56 Wendy’s restaurants in Michigan. The company now owns and operates more than 160 restaurants in the state.
“TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants has a reputation for leading the way in the restaurant industry and a proven legacy of growing great restaurant concepts in Michigan due to the hard work and dedication of our team,” says Mark Schostak, executive chairman of TSFR.
“As our team actively sought opportunities to grow TSFR’s restaurant business, this unique opportunity came up in our home state to purchase these Wendy’s, and the acquisition was a strategic and natural fit. We see tremendous growth opportunity with Wendy’s both in the communities we are currently operating in, as well as in new communities throughout Michigan.”
The Schostak family has had a footprint in Michigan for nearly 100 years, starting in real estate. The family diversified its business to the restaurant industry nearly 40 years ago when it became a Burger King franchisee. It grew the chain from one to 60 restaurants in Michigan before selling its stake in the brand in 2015.
Today, the company owns and operates 65 Applebee’s restaurants, 27 Olga’s Kitchen restaurants, 14 MOD Pizza restaurants, and seven Del Taco restaurants. There are plans underway to develop each concept. In 2018, TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants opened the first co-branded Applebee’s/IHOP restaurant located inside the Millender Center in Detroit.
TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants will add 1,700 employees as a result of the acquisition.
