The Jeep brand of Stellantis in Auburn Hills has unveiled its 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk, which the automaker says is “engineered to elevate the nameplate to new heights.”

According to Jeep, the Cherokee Trailhawk offers an estimated 31 combined mpg and reportedly best-in-class off-road specifications.

“Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is the real deal and earned its Trail Rated badge through a gauntlet of testing scenarios,” says Branden Coté, CEO of the Jeep brand. “This SUV blends authentic 4×4 off-road capability that the Trailhawk badge represents and with hybrid efficiency that is so important to customers in this segment.”

For the 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, engineers say they’ve brought the SUV to some of the harshest environments to go well beyond what the average customer will encounter. This includes validation trips to some of the most challenging environments in the U.S. Southwest.

The SUV boasts what the automaker claims are the following best-in-class specs:

  • Standard approach angle of 28.8 degrees.
  • Departure angle of 31.8 degrees.
  • Ramp breakover angle of 21.9 degrees.

The Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk also claims to be the only SUV in its class to offer a water fording rating depth of 24 inches as well as a 9-inch ground clearance with a 1-inch lift. The suspension lift, coupled with unique spring and damper tuning, results in a 45-point Ramp Travel Index improvement over other Cherokee models — the standard test for suspension flexibility and axle articulation.

The off-road engineering behind these stats rests on Jeep brand’s legendary Active Drive II 4×4 system with Lock Mode, and Cherokee Trailhawk’s standard, class-exclusive, two-speed power transfer unit with a 2.92 low range ratio and 37.5:1 crawl ratio. Climbing steep, loose, and rocky surfaces is said to be a simple task without the driver needing to ride the brakes. Standard steel skid plates protect the front axle, wiring, and fuel tank, along with a protection plate for the hybrid battery.

Selec-Terrain modes are standard with five settings:

  • Auto
  • Sport
  • Snow
  • Sand/Mud
  • Rock

On the exterior, the fascia is unique to the Trailhawk model and finished in a Gloss Black upper fascia. Class-exclusive tow hooks, finished in red, also are equipped on the front and rear of the Cherokee Trailhawk. The hood sports an anti-glare Trailhawk graphic to complement the Trailhawk badging at the rear of the vehicle. Cherokee Trailhawk also offers two unique 17-inch wheel designs wrapped in Nexen Rodian ATX all-terrain tires measuring 245/65R17.

The interior introduces a new motif with premium Mantis Green upholstery with red accent stitching and embossed logo. Additionally, designers added a unique shift-dial finish in Black Spun Aluminum. Cherokee Trailhawk also gains a unique Radical Red bezel around the transmission dial found on some of the most capable trims across the Jeep lineup, including Wrangler Rubicon.

Every Jeep Cherokee comes equipped with a roster of comfort, safety, and convenience features as standard, including a driver’s side 10.25-inch digital cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Cherokee Trailhawk bundles some of the most desired equipment in parallel with its off-road gear with most Overland content. This includes:

  • 6L Turbo Hybrid with 210 horsepower
  • LED headlamps and taillamps
  • Fog lamps
  • Gloss Black front upper fascia and rear liftgate accent
  • Power driver and front passenger heated seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Foot-activated power liftgate
  • Memory seating and mirrors

Three optional packages are available for customers to add more to their Cherokee Trailhawk: a Sun and Sound package, with dual-pane sunroof and premium Alpine Audio system; a trailering package for Cherokee’s 3,500-pound towing figure, and the Advanced Pro Tech Group. The latter includes features such as ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, front and rear camera washers, and a 360-degree camera.

The 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk enters production later this year. Production will take place at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Complex. Customers are able to place orders for their vehicles starting now. Prices for the 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk start at $44,625, including a $1,995 destination charge.

In Related News: When Jeep unveiled its 2027 Jeep Wrangler Switchback earlier this month, it was the end of a yearlong celebration of Wrangler’s heritage, capability, design, and connection with generations of enthusiasts. It was the 12th and final release in its Twelve 4 Twelve series.

“Twelve 4 Twelve unleashed creativity across the Jeep brand, bringing teams together to reimagine an icon through different perspectives while staying true to what has always defined Wrangler,” says Coté. “What this team accomplished with Twelve 4 Twelve is truly unique, a testament to the creativity, passion and collaboration that define the Jeep brand.

“Switchback is the perfect finale. It takes Wrangler’s inherent spirit of personalization somewhere unexpected, pairing bold contrasts and interchangeable elements with the legendary 4×4 capability at the heart of every Wrangler. Even after 85 years, there are still new ways to express what Wrangler can be.”

According to Jeep, Switchback brings Wrangler’s inherent “building kit” philosophy to life through a deliberate mix of color and components. Black and Sting-Gray dual vented power dome hoods and doors are exchanged across complementary configurations, creating the impression of sibling Wranglers swapping parts, while Gecko shifts from exterior color to high-impact accent on the grille surround, hood graphic and beadlock wheel rings, with a Gecko finish developed specifically for the wheel ring.

The swapping idea behind the Switchback name extends all the way to the assembly process. Gloss Black and Sting-Gray vehicles are sequenced together down the line, with doors switched during the regular production process and hoods swapped at the upfitting center to create the contrasting hood-and-door combinations that define Wrangler Switchback.

Orders for the 2027 Jeep Wrangler Switchback open in November, with a package price of $2,870. Based on the Rubicon X, MSRP is $66,695 for the two-door model and $69,995 for the four-door model, including the $1,995 destination charge.
