Livonia-based Trinity Health Acquires Hospital System in New York

Livonia-based Trinity Health, a national Catholic health system, will add St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, a regional health care system in Syracuse, N.Y. to its expanding network.

Trinity Health operates hospitals across Michigan, including St. Joseph Mercy in Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Livingston, Troy, Port Huron, along with Mercy Health is Muskegon and Grand Rapids. The company also operates hospitals in New York, including Catholic Health System in Buffalo and St. Peter’s Health Partners in Albany. Trinity Health now has locations in 21 states with 86 hospitals, and 128 continuing care facilities and home health and hospice programs.

St. Joseph’s will have access to system-wide programs and will have access to Trinity Health’s capital resources. St. Joseph’s will continue to manage and operate facilities. The two companies will now work to establish a transition team to manage regulatory approvals.
