The GMC brand of General Motors Co. in Detroit today introduced its next-generation 2027 GMC Sierra 1500, ahead of its launch later this year. It features a new exterior design, new interiors, and new Small Block V-8 engines.
Available for the 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 are all-new sixth-generation 5.7L and 6.6L Small Block V8 engines, an enhanced TurboMax engine, the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel, and GM’s new native user interface.
The truck also introduces a more upright exterior with machine-precision forms, a more vertical grille, and an evolution of GMC’s signature lighting, including 7-shaped headlamps and taillamps with available welcome and farewell animations, available illuminated GMC signature lighting, and available quad exhaust outlets.

The optional MultiPro Tailgate is enhanced with a new design applique, four additional tie-downs, and an integrated ruler system. The cargo bed features 16 standard tie-down locations, and also offers best-in-class1 cargo volume.
Trim-specific design details further distinguish the lineup, including the AT4X’s unique hood and more purposeful off-road stance, Denali’s signature chrome grille, and Denali Ultimate’s exclusive premium finishes.
Every trim receives a redesigned cabin with exclusive colorways, premium seating, and expanded functionality. Available features include real wood trim, forged wood on Denali Ultimate, and carbon fiber on AT4X, dynamic ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and an all-new MultiPro center console that combines additional storage with an extended work surface.
All four of the engines available for the 2027 Sierra 1500 are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Engine specs include:
Enhanced TurboMax: 350 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. of torque, an increase of 40 horsepower and 25 lb.-ft. compared with the current engine, delivering best-in-class standard torque1. Updates include a new turbocharger, upgraded fuel injection, improved active thermal management and redesigned pistons.
New 5.7L sixth-generation Small Block V-8: 402 horsepower and 428 lb.-ft. of torque, with up to 13,500 pounds of maximum available trailering capability when properly equipped.
New 6.6L sixth-generation Small Block V-8: 481 horsepower and 501 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class1, the largest-displacement V-8 in its class and GMC’s most powerful half-ton V-8 ever.
Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel: 305 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft. of torque. When paired with the available 34-gallon fuel tank (approx.), it offers more than 900 miles of available GM-estimated highway range.
The new V-8 engines feature higher compression ratios, larger throttle bodies, tuned intake manifolds, and a dual-fuel injection system that combines direct and port injection. A new 34-gallon fuel tank (approx.) is available with the V8 engines and the Duramax diesel.
The 2027 Sierra 1500 introduces GM’s new user interface, designed to make information easier to find and truck-specific tasks easier to manage.
The 16.3-inch diagonal center infotainment touchscreen display is said to be the largest in its class, and the available first-in-class articulating center screen provides hidden storage. An available 11.5-inch diagonal front passenger infotainment center display provides dedicated entertainment content, with polarized technology that helps keep content visible only to the passenger.
GMC offers the 2027 Sierra 1500 in six trims, each with a distinct purpose.
Pro: Pro is the work-focused entry point to the Sierra 1500 lineup, offering essential capability, modern technology and value.
Elevation: Elevation combines expressive GMC design, everyday versatility, and premium technology.
AT4: AT4 combines premium comfort with enhanced off-road capability for customers who regularly venture beyond the pavement.
AT4X: AT4X offers the pinnacle of Sierra off-road capability, combining serious trail hardware, premium materials, and advanced technology.
Denali: Denali combines signature design, craftsmanship and premium technology with full-size truck capability.
Denali Ultimate: Denali Ultimate is the flagship of the fleet, offering more than 60 inches of combined digital displays — said to be the most in its class, including the available 11.5-inch Passenger Infotainment Center (PIC) display.
The first 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 models are expected to arrive at GMC dealerships before the end of the 2026 calendar year with MSRPs starting at $51,295 for Pro and $87,895 for Denali Ultimate.
