Kienbaum Opperwall Hardy and Pelton in Birmingham has merged with Viviano Law in Mount Clemens. The new law firm is Kienbaum Hardy Viviano Pelton and Forrest.

Kienbaum Opperwall Hardy and Pelton, an employment law firm in Birmingham, and Viviano Law, a commercial law firm in Mount Clemens, Monday announced a merger to become Kienbaum Hardy Viviano Pelton and Forrest. The new firm’s offices will remain in the same locations. Details of the merger were not disclosed.

“We are offering premier litigation expertise, and we are doing so through a merger of two firms with exceptionally talented attorneys,” says Joe Viviano, member of the new firm. “Our clients will welcome the increased legal expertise. The Birmingham employment team is a perfect fit.”

Both firms were started by attorneys at larger regional firms who opened boutique practices. Merger discussions began last year when the firms wanted to grow their offerings while maintaining their boutique size.

“Our attorney roster is known across the country for our specialty in employment litigation and labor law,” says Eric Pelton, managing member of the new firm. “We wanted to provide full commercial services to our clients and grow our roots. Viviano Law had an ideal like-minded culture, a great location to grow service, and an ideal service offering that makes sense for our clients.”

Ted Opperwall, founding member of Kienbaum Opperwall Hardy and Pelton, will continue with the new firm in an of counsel role focused on labor and employment advice. He will also mentor the firm’s junior lawyers.
