Troy-based Emagine Entertainment Inc. is partnering with Canterbury Village in Lake Orion to open the Canterbury Village Drive-In Powered by Emagine on the grounds of the historically themed property. The outdoor theater is expected to open May 29.

The drive-in will be showing movies on a 14-by-32-foot LED screen that will be raised for optimal viewing from the inside of the guest’s vehicle, with a high resolution that provides viewing opportunities for daytime and nighttime showtimes. Sound will be played through car radios.

The grounds will operate under social distancing guidelines for the benefit of employees and guests, and employees at the drive-in will be required to wear masks and gloves. Capacity will be limited to one-third, which is 160 cars per showtime, with a 14-by-20-foot space per vehicle and the requirement of remaining within your designated area.

All ticketing will be done in advance and will have contactless check-in upon arrival where all tickets will be scanned through closed car windows. Restrooms will be available onsite and will follow strict cleanliness and capacity guidelines maintained by Canterbury Village attendants and will require guests to wear both a mask and gloves.

Among the movies that will be shown include “Secret Life of Pets,” “Sonic the Hedgehog,” “Jumanji: The Next Level,” “Dolittle,” and “Spider-Man: Far from Home.”

“The Emagine brand carries strong recognition in the marketplace and it is synonymous with the high value and exceptional experience we strive to provide guests who visit our properties” said Keith Aldridge, CEO of Canterbury Village.

“We are delighted to enter into this sponsorship with the Aldridge Family and support their entrepreneurial spirit in opening the drive-in” says Paul Glantz, co-founder and chairman of Emagine Entertainment. “We are happy to support this effort so people in our community will be able to partake of out-of-home entertainment during this sad period in our history.”

The sponsorship includes naming rights and cross promotional opportunities for both brands.  Emagine is not involved in the management or operations of the facility.

The drive-in is located at 2359 Joslyn Ct. in Lake Orion on the grounds of Canterbury Village. Tickets will be available online and in advance only. Pets are not permitted.
