Rochester Hills-based independent smart automation solutions provider ATS Applied Tech Systems today announced the acquisition of H&G Systems, a complex robotics and industrial automation company headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The full team at H&G Systems will continue to serve customers under the name ATS Applied Tech System Scotland, together with the original members of ATS in the United Kingdom. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“I am very proud of our achievements at H&G Systems over the last 14 years and of the strong growth and excellent service it has provided to our customers. The decision to merge was taken after we recognized that only a larger, strategic owner could take H & G Systems to the next phase of its development,” says John Purves, appointed country manager for ATS.

“As a global and independent solution provider, ATS has all the right ingredients to help our customers meet their challenges, to power further growth, to provide a secure home for the team, and to strengthen technical support for our customers. While we add new services and products to our portfolio, we will continue to provide innovative and reliable process solutions to our existing customers.”
Purves will report to Kevin Partington, managing director for ATS UK operations. Partington sees the merger as an opportunity to expand the range of solutions offered to existing and potential customers, which will enable ATS to offer greater breadth and expertise while providing their services.

One example of collaboration is the ATS SmartManufacturing Service Bus, which lowers the cost of system integration and can be used by H&G’s existing customers to net tangible business benefits during the digital transformation, as well as enhanced capabilities from the newly created team.
