Colorado-based Envision Healthcare Holdings Inc. will finalize a deal next month to acquire Ann Arbor-based Emergency Physicians Medical Group, with nearly 40 facilities across the Midwest, for $120 million.
“Joining the Envision team not only allows us unparalleled infrastructure support and the ability to offer additional integrated services to our facility partners, it enables us to broaden our reach in our communities by partnering with EmCare, Evolution Health, and American Medical Response,” says Dr. Christopher Newton, president, CEO, and manager partner of the group.
Emergency Physicians Medical Group has more than 500 clinical providers working in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, and Delaware. Envision offers health care-related services to consumers, hospitals, health care systems, and health plans, along local, state, and national government entities. The organization’s companies include American Medical Response Inc., a medical transportation company that serves more than 40 states; EmCare Holdings Inc., a provider of physician services for emergency departments, inpatient physician services, acute care surgery, and anesthesiology services; and Evolution Health LLC, a provider of mobile integrated healthcare, specializing in the care and management of patients in the home and alternate settings.
“We have advanced our market-centric strategy for several years and this is yet another example of how we are building strategic centers of healthcare excellence in key geographic locations,” says William Sanger, president, CEO, and chairman of the board of Envision. “EPMG has very strong relationships with its healthcare partners which will open doors for us to add additional hospital-based services as well as expand community health offerings through opportunities with AMR and Evolution Health.”
