Troy’s Shield’s Restaurant and Pizzeria, located at 1476 W. Maple Road, has added a new partner and is slated for a complete interior and exterior remodel. The restaurant will close following business hours on Mother’s Day, May 13, for construction. Costing approximately $1 million including architect and general contractor fees, the remodeled restaurant is expected re-open on Aug. 1.
Located on Detroit’s east side, the Downtown Boxing Gym has received a two-year $500,000 grant from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation. The gym was started in 2007 and offers free, after-school academic and athletic programs. Referred to as the “books before boxing” approach, the gym has served an increasing number of students each year. The grant will assist with the gym’s goal of serving 250 students by 2020, along with the creation of an apprenticeship program.

Anesthesia Associates of Ann Arbor and Midwest Anesthesia Consultants (A4), an independent provider of anesthesia and pain management services, has partnered with a Boston-based middle-market private equity firm, J.W. Childs Associates. The agreement will combine A4 with J.W. Childs' existing portfolio company, Siromed. J.W. Childs will provide growth equity capital to support the continued expansion of A4.
