Walsh College Announces Resignation of Chief Academic Officer; Names Business Administration Chair as Interim

Troy, Michigan, June 8, 2011 – Walsh College today announced that Robert Minter, Ph.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, will retire from the College effective July 8.
 
Michael Levens, Ph.D., F.C.I.M., chair of the Business Administration department and associate professor of Marketing, will serve as interim executive vice president and chief academic officer, effective July 11.
 
Dr. Minter, of Troy, joined Walsh College in August of 2008 from Delaware State University in Dover, where he had been the dean of the College of Business and a professor of management.
 
According to Walsh College President and CEO Stephanie Bergeron, “Innovative academic programs, new and renewed accreditation, and faculty scholarship and development have been the hallmarks of Dr. Minter’s leadership.”  Dr. Minter launched the popular Master of Management degree, oversaw a 10-year accreditation renewal from the Higher Learning Commission, and secured new, nationally respected accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.
 
“Dr. Minter also saw the value of Walsh’s role in the community through his support of such programs as Take Charge, the Blackstone LaunchPad program for student and alumni entrepreneurs, and theBusiness 360 course program for business owners,” President Bergeron added.
 
Dr. Levens, of Orion Township, joined the College in 2006 from General Motors, where he had been OnStar consumer research manager, SAAB 9-3 and 9-5 vehicle line brand manager, and held various marketing, product, and international business management positions. 
 
Dr. Levens is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has been named to the Fulbright Specialist Roster. His academic research focuses on affluent consumer behavior and non-traditional bundling strategies. He is the author of “Marketing: Defined, Explained, Applied”, a textbook used by more than 100 institutions worldwide and now in its second edition.
 

Educated in the United States and Australia, Dr. Levens holds a post-doctoral qualification in marketing from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, a Ph.D. from Capella University, an MBA from Australia’s Bond University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Systems (Marketing) from Kettering University.
