The Taft law firm in Detroit has added three new attorneys to its Detroit office, expanding its intellectual property practice in the market. The group joins from specialty intellectual property firm Bejin Bieneman.
This makes 11 new attorney additions since August for the office. Taft’s IP group also is growing, adding 12 attorneys so far this year.
The new attorneys joining Taft Detroit include:

Thomas Bejin joins as partner, specializing in intellectual property litigation, strategic counseling, and freedom to operate studies. With experience handling patent, trademark, and trade secret cases, Benjin has represented clients in both state and federal courts across the country.

William Broman joins as an attorney who focuses his practice on assisting clients with all aspects of their intellectual property including patent, trademark, and copyright matters. He primarily works on patent and trademark prosecution, and intellectual property litigation, and dispute resolution.

John Carpenter joins as senior counsel. He has experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the mechanical and software arts. He is a registered patent attorney with more than 17 years of experience in patent preparation, prosecution, and IP litigation support.
“We’re on a path of advancement in Detroit,” says Mark Cooper, partner-in-charge of Taft Detroit. “Welcoming a highly talented, creative group to our IP practice is exactly what we look for as we strategically expand our bench and legal capabilities. We’re very enthusiastic about welcoming Tom, Will, and John to the team and continuing to grow our presence in Detroit and beyond.”
