Stantec, a Canadian-based architectural firm with offices in Michigan and worldwide, has promoted Margie Simmons to senior vice president in the company’s Berkley office.

Simmons serves as a business leader within Stantec’s buildings group and will be responsible for its operations across the nearly 4,000-person North American practice.

In addition to more than 20 years of experience in the architecture and engineering industry, Simmons, of Northville, is also an entrepreneur, marketing, and business professional. She co-founded DSA Architects, a Michigan architectural firm focused on higher education projects. Simmons led the firm through its acquisition by SHW Group and was elected as CEO of SHW in 2010.

Simmons earned her bachelor’s in accounting from Michigan State University.
