Rachel Tronstein Stewart, president of Gardner White in Auburn Hills, was honored during the 2023 ADL (Anti-Defamation League) National Home Furnishings Industry Tribute Dinner in New York City on June 22.

The annual tribute dinner recognizes industry leaders for their individual contributions to their respective communities and their support of ADL’s mission to fight hate of all forms and secure justice and fair treatment for all.

“We are deeply dedicated, both as a family and as a company, to supporting the critical work of the ADL to fight hate and extremism in our community and around the globe,” says Stewart. “The ADL is an incredible organization, and it is our responsibility to support and help move their mission forward.”

Stewart holds her BA from the University of Michigan and earned a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science. After serving in roles in clean energy with the U.S. Department of Energy and the Clinton Global Initiative, Stewart returned to Michigan. In her role as president of Gardner White, she works alongside her parents at the company, which is Michigan’s largest furniture retailer.

“Rachel’s dedication to partnerships is true service to our state, and we are thrilled to commemorate her,” says Carolyn Normandin, Michigan regional director for the ADL. “When rising antisemitism and hatred peppers our communities, it’s refreshing to see corporate responsibility and a true sense of ADL’s core mission and values embodied in Rachel’s leadership.”

Each year, the furniture industry joins ADL to support the National Home Furnishings Tribute Dinner to highlight the work of business leaders who embody ADL’s core mission and values.

Stewart served as the first female chair of the board of New Detroit, Inc. from 2018 through 2021. She was joined by other 2023 honorees — designer Michel Smith Boyd and Irwin Novack, president and CEO of Kane’s Furniture.

ADL is an anti-hate organization. Founded in 1913 in response to an escalating climate of anti-Semitism and bigotry, its mission is to protect the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all. Today, ADL continues to fight all forms of hate.  To earn more about the ADL, visit here.
