HOLLAND — Michigan-based Hudsonville Ice Cream, in all new packaging, will now offer over 20 gluten-free flavors and has launched a new limited edition flavor, Chocolate Craving.
Hudsonville Ice Cream is now one of the few major ice cream manufacturers to offer gluten-free products, making it easier for customers who need to avoid gluten for their health to indulge in the classic treat. Gluten-free labels will be clearly visible on flavors such as vanilla, Michigan Deer Traxx, Mackinac Island Fudge, Triple Peanut Butter Cup, Grand Traverse Bay Cherry Fudge and a flavor that launched at the end of 2013, Toasted Coconut.
“We are thrilled to highlight the fact that so many of our flavors are naturally gluten-free as we know that is going to be a huge bonus for the one in 133 people in the U.S. who have coeliac disease and the even greater number, around six to seven per cent of the population, who are gluten sensitive,” said Caryn Beatty, of Hudsonville Ice Cream.
The company new Chocolate Craving ice cream, loaded with chocolate brownies, chocolate truffles and a butter fudge swirl — which is now available at Michigan supermarkets.
“Our new flavor is a chocolate-lover’s dream!” said Beatty. “It couldn’t be loaded with more chocolate if we tried, and if the taste-testing by our staff is anything to go by, we think it’s going to be a favorite very soon!”
