Grosse Pointe, MI – June 7, 2010 – EyesOn Design and their partners will host three spectacular summer events, all engaging in food, culture, fun and entertainment in support of the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. Now in it’s 23rd season, EyesOn Design Car Show weekend extends its international acclaim with Eve of Eyes on June 10th at College for Creative Studies and Vision Honored on June 18th at the historic Roostertail.
For 2010 – Hosted by the EyesOn Design event committee, community volunteers and some of the automotive industry’s most recognized designers, the events typically include the Eve of Eyes Designers’ Night, the Vision Honored creative soiree, and the EyesOn Design Automotive Design Exhibition. Earlier this year, the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology announced that Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Design and Brand Management, Nissan Motor Company Ltd, has been elected as the 2010 Lifetime Design Achievement Award winner for the EyesOn Design Automotive Exhibit. The DIO also announced that Bill Warner, Founder and Co-Chairman of The Amelia Island Concours d’ Elegance, will be the Honorary Chair.
June Events all in Support of the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology
Eve of Eyes Designers’ Night 2010 – This prelude event will be held Thursday, June 10th (6pm-12am) at the spectacular A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education. The event annually attracts the region’s top young creative designers and the automotive industry’s rising stars and retired designers. It will feature vehicle displays, student exhibits, live DJs, signature food and cocktails. Organizers plan for an evening celebrating fashion, music, automotive design and all things creative.
Vision Honored – will take place this year at the Roostertail Restaurant on the Detroit riverfront on June 18th. This year EyesOn will be honoring Shiro Nakamura of Nissan Motors as he will receive the coveted Lifetime Design Achievement Award for the 2010 year. This year’s event will feature food and appetizers by the Roostertail while accompanied by musical entertainment from the Motor City Horns. The Black Tie affair will start promptly at 6 p.m.
EyesOn Design Car Show – EyesOn Design and the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (DIO) will host its annual EyesOn event during Father’s Day, June 20, 2010 at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. This year’s theme is The Evolution of Automobile Design. The annual event is a celebration of world-class design in areas such as automotive, aviation and furniture. Proceeds from the events support the DIO’s research initiatives and its work with the visually impaired and blind through out the world. EyesOn Design focuses on the design process which has many influencing factors—including movies, architecture, music, graphic arts, urban design, and product design.
