Evan Kaploe has joined the Bloomfield Hills-based Strobl law firm, where he will specialize in tax controversy and planning, corporate, estate planning, and bankruptcy.

Before joining private practice, Kaploe served as an attorney for the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Chief Counsel and a Special Assistant United States Attorney.

This experience has given Kaploe a broad range of expertise representing businesses and their owners in tax court, bankruptcy court, tax tribunals, and federal courts. His tax background is an asset while assisting families with their estate planning goals including trust formation and maintenance, wills, and powers of attorney.

In addition to tax law, Kaploe also advises clients on business formation, organization, and structuring. He has extensive experience in guiding business through mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and dissolutions.

Kaploe has served as the chair of the tax section for several organizations, including the Oakland County Bar Association and the practice and procedure committee for the State Bar of Michigan.

Kaploe graduated with his Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University School of Law in East Lansing. He also received a Master of Law degree in taxation from Northwestern University. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He currently resides in Huntington Woods.
