Rebuild Group, a creative agency in Detroit, has hired Mark Canavan as executive creative director. Most recently, he was executive vice president and executive creative director at McCann Detroit.

Canavan was the creative lead on the state of Michigan’s Pure Michigan campaign, which involves more than 120 television, radio, and video segments for the brand. He spent more than 20 years at McCann as well as time at Ross Roy, and Young and Rubicam, leading advertising and brand building programs for health care, financial, and automotive clients.

“Coming out of the COVID crisis, small and medium sized businesses are going to start determining their futures, moving faster than ever,” says Canavan. “I believe the future of this business involves serving these clients with smaller teams, and Rebuild is the firm to do that. It’s full of smart, hungry people, and I can’t wait to tap into that energy and take it to the next stage.”

The hiring marks a step forward as Rebuild works to evolve into a full-service agency.

“Adding Mark to our team instantly elevates our creative capabilities,” said Josh Gershonowicz, president and CEO of Rebuild Group. “With his ability and reputation, he could have chosen any firm in the country. We view this addition as a key part of our larger plan to deliver unique and ambitious work for clients.”

Rebuild was founded in 2012.
