Morgan Stanley announced that Christopher Letts, a senior vice president in the firm’s wealth management office in Bloomfield Hills, has earned Morgan Stanley’s Family Wealth Director (FWD) designation.

The FWD is a very selective designation held by fewer than 4 percent of Morgan Stanley advisors and entitles Letts access to a variety of specialized family advisory services including family governance and wealth education, philanthropy management and lifestyle advisory.

“This is an exceptional achievement for Chris and an attestation of his commitment to our firm’s most affluent clients. He has demonstrated a sophisticated approach to the management of significant wealth that helps to set him apart from others within the industry,” says Mark Feiler, sub-complex manager at Morgan Stanley.

Morgan Stanley advisors must be nominated by firm leadership to participate in the Family Wealth Director accreditation program, which is focused on skills required for comprehensive wealth management across a range of disciplines including estate planning strategies, alternative investments, control and restricted securities, lending, hedging and monetization, and business succession planning. Only successful completion of this rigorous program is required to earn the FWD title.

Letts co-founded the Pine Harbor Group in 2014 and currently manages $1.3 billion (as of Dec. 31, 2022) in assets under management. He specializes in advising on the complex needs of entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and families of intergenerational wealth. He was named Morgan Stanley’s top “Next-Gen Wealth Advisor” by Forbes magazine in 2022 for the state of Michigan. Letts holds a B.A in finance (with honors) from Michigan State University and sits on its Eli Broad College of Business Finance Advisory Board.
