Beyond Basics — a literacy nonprofit serving students in metro Detroit public schools — will host its 14th annual “Come Together for Children” fundraiser on March 14 at the Detroit Golf Club.

“We do literacy projects for our inner city youth to help them to read and bring them up to grade level,” says Joseph Corace, COO of Beyond Basics. “Mitch Albom will be (at the event) and we’re debuting a video by Keith Famie depicting a day in the life of Beyond Basics students.”

Corace says the fundraiser takes place 6-9 p.m. featuring food and beverages and attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a raffle, silent auction, and live auction to benefit Beyond Basics.

Mohammad and Farhat Oazi of CIENA Healthcare will be awarded the Literacy Chair Award for their support of the nonprofit and Annette and Jack Aronson will be presented with the Hearts of Children Award.
