In the world of metro Detroit commercial construction, Max Labe isn’t just entering the market, he’s blazing a new trail after launching Via Paving in Oak Park.
Since his company’s debut in November 2025, Labe, a 29-year-old Huntington Woods native and former Barton Malow project leader, says he has received more than 75 quote requests totaling more than $15 million in potential business.
“My parents will say, ever since I was a kid, all I wanted to do was own a construction company,” says Labe. “Now I get to live my dream. While the early excitement has been incredible, we know success ultimately comes down to execution and delivery. We’re ready, prepared, and committed to exceeding our customers’ expectations.”
Labe is the managing partner and majority shareholder of Via Paving, backed by a group of private investors.
After honing his skills on projects like the Notre Dame Stadium expansion in Indiana and the Hudson’s site redevelopment in downtown Detroit, the Michigan State University construction management and finance graduate decided it was time to “step off the cliff” and build his own legacy.
Via Paving enters the market as a full-service operation, handling everything from concrete curb repairs and industrial asphalt to complex site work and parking lot construction across Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties.
“As we continue to grow, it is important to bring big company expertise with a small company feel, meaning that we actually care about our customers, we care about the product we put down, and we care that they’re happy,” Labe says.
