The Power Company Kids Club has been promoting the well-being of at-risk children in southeast Michigan since its inception in 1993. Using faith to spread their message, the organization has formed numerous programs to assist in the development of adolescents. The PCKC’s Saturday Sessions provide games, songs, and prizes for participating children, while also promoting a socially and mentally healthy lifestyle. The organization’s afterschool and PCKC in the Park programs look to give children an outlet where they can participate in activities, develop their abilities, create bonds, and receive food through the organization’s feeding program, which also offers school supplies, clothing, and other materials children need but may not have access to. Focused on creating leaders for the future, the PCKC’s Leadership Academy attempts to influence and empower 100 children in its three-week character and leadership development program. In an effort to make sure every child has a reason to celebrate the holidays, the organization’s staple outreach program, Project: Christmas Joy, provides more than 3,000 gifts for underprivileged children in the Detroit and Pontiac communities.
