Stepping Out With the Stars

The seventh annual Stepping Out with the Stars Gala took place on April 14 in the Palazzo Grande Banquet and Event Center in Shelby Township. Money raised at the event goes to Turning Point, a Mt. Clemens-based agency whose mission is to empower domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking survivors through comprehensive services and resources. The night was centered around five community members who trained with professional instructors months in advance to perform a dance routine. Dancers competed to be crowned the best dancer and collect the most votes (donations) to support Turning Point, a nonprofit organization. The event also included a survivor speaker, a dinner, beverages, a silent auction, raffles, and a wine pull. Shea Whitfield, one of the stars from HGTV’s hit show “Bargain Block”, and her husband, Terry Whitfield, a partnership manager of policy and systems at The Skillman Foundation in Detroit, were the evening’s emcees. // Photos courtesy of Daniel Moen
