New Detroit, founded in Detroit in 1967 in the wake of the riots of that year, is a coalition of leaders working to achieve racial understanding and racial equity in metro Detroit. New Detroit dismantles racism in the region by moving hearts and minds and changing policies and systems. Its work includes education, trainings, services, research, and programs to fight racism at the personal, institutional, and systemic levels. New Detroit’s Just Institute provides training, consulting, and collective impact programs to educate people and institutions and guide them to action individually and collectively.
